For this reason, spatial boundaries of the bioeconomy region must first be defined. The design of these boundaries varies depending on the specific application. Delimitation may, for example, be based on administrative borders, existing network or alliance boundaries, or natural spatial structures. It is essential that the boundaries are clearly defined.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Core region:<\/strong> the primary focus area of the assessment<\/li>\n<li><strong>Immediate surroundings:<\/strong>regions that are strongly interconnected with the core region through spatial, cultural, or economic proximity<\/li>\n<li><strong>External zone:<\/strong>all other regions that are relevant to the value creation system<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This zoning approach ensures that effects on other regions are not neglected during the assessment, while maintaining a clear focus on the respective bioeconomy region.
