Based on knowledge about the plants, questions about their suitability in terms of processing them into products that are as sustainable as possible are being investigated. Is it possible to produce biobased, compostable films from cattails or reeds? Can fibres from sedges serve as a basis for bio-based plastic mouldings? How sustainable and environmentally harmful will these products be? What possibilities are offered by the special physicochemical properties of peatland plants? In which areas of society are petroleum-based plastics really without alternative, and what do the most sustainable concepts for this look like?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Project goals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The overall aims of the joint project \"Paludi-Produkt\" are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the development of the raw material source \"natural fibres from paludiculture\" for bioplastics production, and<\/li>\n<li>to test the feasibility of two value chains with natural fibres from paludiculture in the field of bioplastics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The project comprises four basic work objectives: 1.) Analysis of the biomass from paludiculture on a chemical and physical level, 2.) Development of a specially adapted plastic compound recipe, 3.) Transfer of the compound recipe to large-scale plants, 4.)
