The raw material base of bioeconomic value creation systems comprises various renewable or naturally regrowing organic resources. Depending on the analytical focus and objectives, it may be useful to further delimit this raw material base. For example, the value creation system may be restricted to areas whose value creation is based on a specific type of biomass (e.g. wood). This delimitation is optional, as it may also be useful to consider the full spectrum of available renewable raw materials, for instance in order to identify the most sustainable combination for a defined end product.
