The Sustainability Check for value creation systems in bioeconomy regions assesses the sustainability of regional networks consisting of companies and organizations. The analysis is conducted through dialogue with regional and supra-regional stakeholders from business, public administration, and research. For this purpose, a modular system for assessment and exchange processes has been developed.

The aim is to identify options for action, development pathways, and strategic priorities in order to support and further develop sustainable structural change through bioeconomy value creation systems. The assessment considers the ecological, social, and economic dimensions of sustainability, as well as the cross-cutting topics of resilience, governance, and regional structural change.

The following guideline enables the step-by-step application of the developed methodology. It accompanies the entire process, from defining the value creation system and collecting and analysing data to transferring the results.
